Maubima case: Suspect released on condition

The suspect Thambirasa Susanthi who was arrested with M. Parameswary the Maubima journalist, was released by the Colombo Additional magistrate Ms. Poornima Paranagama on Thursday.

The suspect was arrested near the Savoy cinema at Wellawatte on November 28 and was in custody for a period of 16 months. The suspect was released on the recommendations of the Defence Ministry Additional Secretary S.S.K. Sirisena.

The magistrate released the suspect subject to the terms and conditions stipulated by the Terrorist Investigation Division ASP Somasiri Collure.

The magistrate ordered the suspect to reside at her permanent residence at Saravanamuttu Road, Thambiluvil, Akkaraipattu. She has to report to the Akkaraipattu Police Station every Sunday between 9 a.m. and 12 noon. She had to inform the station if she was proceeding to any place other than her area stipulated. She has to inform the Police if she was to accommodate any outsiders. She has to surrender her passport.

She was prohibited from entering any High Security Zones and restricted areas and was banned from communicating with any terrorist organization or any person involved in terrorist activities. Attorney-at-law K. Poobalasingham appeared for the suspect.
