Revolution of Sounds VI

Revolution of Sounds, the annual finance project organized by the Interact Club of S. Thomas College, has proved its success as it prepares to make its sixth appearance this year. Six long years after the first Revolutions of Sounds in 2003, the concert still musters a large audience and has become one of the most looked anticipated events on the teen calendar. Last year's concert, Revolution of Sound V, saw some 700 people gathering at Bishops College Auditorium for a night of fun filled entertainment and all out rock. This year Revolution of Sounds VI approaches offering more entertainment and an even bigger arsenal of performers.

Daddy, the musical group which caused quite a sensation, would be appearing among the performing bands this year. After becoming the first runners up in TNL onstage 2004 and also becoming the best band in Talent Search 2003, the band released the single "Mage Massina," which needless to say, is an instant hit, topping the charts in many musical programs as well as becoming the most downloaded music video in Sri Lanka. This charismatic band offers much entertainment, good music and always something to look forward to.

Hollow, the winners of TNL onstage 2007 would make their first appearance in Revolutions of Sounds this year. After a vibrant and stunning performance at the TNL finals in which they played their original "Sweet Betrayal' followed up with a stunning cover of "The Final Countdown," coupled with brilliant stage presence, one does not know what wonders to expect from this band. It is clear however that this up and coming band would live up to its reputation and give us a night to remember.

Also performing in this year's concert are the talented youngsters from Elizabeth Moir, which form the band Icarus – a newly formed alt rock group. These teens showed that age doesn't matter to have talent. After literally dazzling their school mates in 'Dazzle,' the school concert, the band took off to new heights writing new songs and composing new music. Icarus is a must-see at this year's Revolution of Sounds.

Umara, the talented young songstress whose raw talent won her many awards in singing competitions on both local and international stages, would also be performing at this year's concert. After recently releasing her debut duet with Bathya and Santhush, Umara has sky rocketed into the local music industry and is considered as one of the top guns in the industry today. However she proves she has much talent, as she also does covers of some of her favorite international female artists which include Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson and Alica Keys. This artist offers variety as well as entertainment. These artists, along with Noah's Ark and Merlock are just some of the bands to expect.

Also performing at the concert would be a host of dance troupes which include Shalini and Shayana, the dance troupe of Bishops College, Visaka Vidyalaya and troupes from many more leading schools in Colombo.

All in all Revolutions of sounds VI offers to be an event not to be missed. A night of entertainment, dazzle and fantastic musical talent await all those who venture down to the Bishops College auditorium on February 17. All proceeds from the concert would go towards charity.

We would also like to thank our main sponsor, media sponsors and co sponsors as well as the concert committee for helping to make this event a success.
