An excursion to Udawalawe

On May 6, with the early dawn, we were out of our beds, getting ready to go to school quickly. Our faces were filled with joy, like flowers blooming on our face.

At half past eight, we were out of our school gate, smart and stylish in coloured, waiting for the buses to come. We heard the buses coming nearer and nearer, and soon we got into the buses and set off for the journey. While we were in the bus, we sang songs and had a lot of fun. At about half past twelve, we could reach our bungalow. We had our lunch and had a little rest and our Vice Principal called us to go on a jeep safari and to get the things ready for the hike. The hike was to the Udawalawe National Park. Our teacher-in-charge, of the trip taught us all the rules and said to obey them.

During the hike, we saw giant elephants, monkeys, snakes and different sweet birds. We could see the deer late in the evening. So the teacher told us that we could return to the bungalow. After we had returned we had a wash and had our dinner. Early the next day, our teacher said that there is another hike, till late in the evening!!! The teacher said that after watching the Diyaluma Falls we would returned to school.

I was happy to see the Diyaluma falls, but sad to return home. But I was happy with the way we enjoyed ourselves.
