Wesley-Trinity washed off

Sudden rain in Kandy forced the Trinity–Wesley match to be abandoned at lunch-time on the second day at Asgiriya.

The first days' play dominated by an exhilarating innings of 85 by Sachith Pathirana who survived a botched stumping chance and proceeded to thrash the Wesley bowling. He was out attempting a sweep when in sight of a hundred.

Wesley lost two early wickets, but their most dangerous batsmen Ryan Kern and Siriratne were looking assured by the close.

Trinity 254 in 67 overs: (S. Pathirana 85, K. Wimalaweera 38, R. Perera 27, W. Weerasinghe 32, R. Bandara 27; T. Abeysekera 2-16, R. Suriyakumara 3-70, A. Fonseka 3-26)

Wesley 56-2 in 16 overs: (R. Kern 20 n.o., S. Siriratne 16 n.o) There was no play on day two.
