Moving together in perfect rhythm and harmony

The Baratha Natya Arangethram of Rekanjali and Kalanjali John took place on December 14 at the new Kathiresen Hall, Colombo.
The Chief Guest was Naatyaachaarya V.P. Dhananjayan, President of Bharatha Kalanjali Academy of the Baratha Natyam, Chennai.

Sisters Rekanjali and Kalanjali learnt Bharatha Natyam under their mother Srimathi Nirmala John, who is one of the foremost Bharatha Natya exponents of Sri Lanka. Srimathi learnt the art under Guru Dhananjayan.

The sisters executed the Nirtha perfectly with Tala and Laya. The finale of the programme was Thillana which encompasses all aspects of dance including brisk adavus, beautiful poses, deft footwork, excellent expressions and appropriate abinayas.
