The trio expects to commence their performances in the festive season to delight many fans who relished the Sri Lankan pop music in the 70s and 80s.Shaminda Jayasekara who came to the limelight with the song 'Margarita' couple of years back, has formed 'Era-70' along with Thushara Sanjeewa and Thushantha Anuruddha who share the same interests with him to relive the sensational 70s.

The trio is well focused on the 'Sri Lankan Pop Music' and hopes to cater to the audiences of the musicals giants like C.T. Fernando, M.S. Feranado, Clarence Wijewardena , H.R. Jothipala and many other pop artistes. At the same time they would play some golden oldies and country songs from the western scene which belongs to the same era. Apart from that 'Era 70' has a good repertoire of 'Baila' songs to make sure the party would end on a high note.

'Era -70' is planning to perform mainly at private functions and corporate events where they meet the 70s fans most. The trio would rearrange some songs using the modern day technological advances in music yet vows to keep the old flavor unspoiled. The trio relies heavily on live performance and would avoid pre recorded music tracks as much as possible. 'Era 70' pays tribute to all the musicians from Sunil Shantha to Clarence Wijewardena for creating such a fabulous music style.

Shaminda would do the lead vocals where Thushara would be the music mastermind. Thushantha is expected to add a nostalgic flavor to the songs with his gifted Sax playing skills. All three musicians would render their voice in accordance with the songs sung and played.

Expressing his views on formation of 'Era 70', Shaminda said "We have seen at many non formal sing along sessions where friends and families get together, pop hits of C.T., M.S., Clarence and Jothi are enjoyed quite regularly. But unfortunately in most places when a band starts playing, they ignore these lovely songs and perform something else that is totally different to the taste of the audience. I have passion for this wonderful style as many people do and I want to simply make them happy with these easy going melodies."

With the festive season around the corner it would be a treat to listen to these young musicians who try to relive the 'Golden Era' of Sri Lankan Pop Music. You could contact Shaminda on 077-3077101 for reservations.
