The spirit of gifting

By Santa's Elf

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth… My two front teeth… Ahhh Christmas jingles that were sung in yonder years… As we grow older we definitely want something other than our two front teeth. For one we already have our two front teeth and for the other, we realized that Christmas is the chance to get some fun and interesting goodies, all for us. While you would definitely know what you want for Christmas, you are probably in a mad rush right about now trying to decide what to get who.
Don't be ashamed… Christmas is hands down one of the busiest and hectic times of the year, and buying Christmas presents for everyone you can possibly think of, can baffle even the seasoned shopper. So I decided to pitch in with my two cents. Whether it's for your parents, brother, sister, grandmother, or even for that aunt you don't really like, you need to get something for everyone.

Hence, if you are struggling to figure out what to buy…sit down, relax and get some tips from me. Use these gifts as inspirations or as something of a guideline to help you with shopping (and hopefully we can save you a Christmas heart attack), and you can sit together with your family and enjoy the festivities.

This is a tricky one… You love her to bits and would want to give her the world but can't really afford it. She does so much all year around and Christmas means that she won't be slowing down – instead she will be going on full speed. So she needs something that relaxes her, or something that shows her that you love her and appreciate what she does all year around.

You could get her

= Foaming bath products
= A day at a spa
= A whole day at a salon (including hair cut, pedicure manicure etc)
= Box of chocolates (Mom's just loves chocolates)

For your father…
So what do we get your father? Don't go with the usual shirt and tie, be a bit more creative. Think of what he likes and try to get something according to that. Maybe he is a golf fanatic so get him something that is in relation to that, or cricket… Now that you don't need help with. If none of that works you can always go to the usual backups like

= Cufflinks
= Tie
= Pair of shoes
= Swiss army knife set.

What to get your grandmother…

Hmmm… Now this definitely is something that always has me stumped. She definitely gives us the impression that she is the type who doesn't expect extravagant gifts…but even she likes to be loved by her adoring grandkids. So get her something that is thoughtful and touches her heart. Something that shows you love her. Something like

= A box of chocolates.
= Clothes – the type she wears
= Perfume – make sure you get the type she likes and not something that is new

Grandfather…

Ah this is definitely another difficult one… Grandfathers at times seems so mellow that you find it really hard to figure out what to get them. So not to worry, there are plenty of things on offer for the older gents these days…and trust me they would love it.

=Shoes
= Shirts
= A pipe
=Books

Sister

She might be annoying you on a day to day basis…but remember you still love her, as she does you. As Christmas comes around, forget all those annoyances and get her something that she likes. And this is a better way to maybe making her less annoying. For your sister, the kind of things you can get her is endless. Some ideas are

= Perfume
= Clothes
= Accessories
= Make up, and the list goes on.

Remember the kind of thing you like, she likes too.

Brother…

The other human being who seems to be born to annoy you. He maybe annoying but guess what – he is one of the easiest people to buy gifts for. Yep, you heard me right. Think of it this way…they are not really complex people. And simple things please simple people. So get him some

= T shirts
= Swiss army knife
= CD's
= Perfume
= Or some sort of a gadget
ought to do the trick.

Niece…

Ahhh…your little niece probably is either still all pink and cuddly or have entered that bratty stage. But trust me things have not changed that much. They pretty much still like the same things. Or I am hoping they do. So why don't you get her

= Cute hair accessories
= Teddy Bears
= Books etc

Nephew

You know why boys and toys rhyme…because they go hand in hand. Even if it's just for a brief period of time, boys just loves their toys. So for your nephew get him

= Action figures like Transformers
= Games and puzzles
= Matchbox cars

Girlfriend

Oooh…now this one is a toughie. Because when she is peeling off the wrapping she is probably thinking how much she means to you. So you better work hard for this one. Some things you can get her are…

= The usual backup – Perfume
= Jewelry
= Chocolates.

Boyfriend

To be honest…he probably doesn't really bother that much with gifts. And even if he does, he wouldn't really say anything. So this one is pretty easy. You can get him

= I Pod
= CD's
= The Whole Simpson's Series
=Watch…trust me
anything will go.

Your Aunt

Your aunt might be one of the most important people in your life…or she may not be. Either way you got to get her something that shows her that you care. So get her something that's nice and sweet that she will like.

= Clothes
= Trinket Box, are some of the options

So that's it for my thoughts on Christmas gift ideas… If these were not much help to you, just take off and simply look around – trust me something will catch you eye. Oh by the way, I almost forgot to mention, please remember that the Christmas gift ideas are merely a guide and I will not be held responsible for resulting in a family feud or getting dumped… Merry Christmas!
