Vijaya on the first innings

Vijaya College – Matale beat A. Ratnayake Central College – Walala in Kandy on the first innings at the Bernard Aluvihare Stadium – Matale.

Vijayans taking first lease of the wicket made 210 all out with N.P. Sandakelum top scoring with 68 and then bowled out the visitors for 98 in 21 overs with B.M. Haluwana capturing 5 for 32 and C.S. Perera 4/32

Malith ton steers OTCC

Malith De Siva Slammed a quick fire Century (106) off 72 balls to steer Matale old Thomians CC to a 121 run win over Prabuddha CC Ukuwela in the M.D.C.A. Division 3 Cricket fixture played at the Bernard Aluvihare Stadium – Matale.
Taking first lease of the wicket old Thomians CC made 287 for 8 in their allotted overs with Malith top scoring with 106 and two other batsmen U. Jayasinghe (56) and B. Dissanayake (50) making valuable contributions with two half tons.
Prabuddha CC in reply were able to muster only 166 in 31.4 overs

Matale CC by 26 runs

Matale Cricket Club posted a 26 run first innings win over Kandy Youth CC in their P. Sara Trophy opening cricket fixture concluded at the Bernard Aluwihare Stadium – Matale.
Batting first Kandy Y.C.C. made 152 all out to which Matale CC replied with 178 all out to obtain the first innings points.
Kandy Y.C.C., batting second declared their innings at 245 for 9 Matlale CC were set a target of 220 to be made in 38 overs ended the day at 204 for the loss of four wickets.
The highlight of this encounter was the superb bowling performance by former Matale Thomian left arm leg spinner Neville Ranasinghe who took all nine Kandy Y.C.C. second inning wickets for 63 runs.
