Govt. flushes loo tax on people
With the cost of living boiling over, your water bills also are going up mainly because you will have to pay a tax every time you use the toilet.The government has imposed this new sewerage service charge on toilets in residences, government institutions and private buildings including charitable organisations and religious places.

The sudden British crackdown on Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan popularly known as Colonel Karuna on Friday morning was bizarre. Had the move anything to do with the death of S.P. 108 Lankan soldiers in Haiti sex scandal

The United Nations will try to persuade the Sri Lankan government to prosecute -- to the fullest extent of the law -- the 108 soldiers who were serving with the UN peacekeeping mission in Haiti (Minustah) for alleged sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of minors, including prostitution.The charges may include rape -- which is constituted a "war crime" in the context of military conflicts -- involving children under 18 years of age.
 

Prabha vows to carry on struggle

Less than 24 hours after paying tribute to the LTTE’s slain political head S. P. Thamilsevlan, rebel leader Velupillai Prabhkaran had crisis talks with his ‘field commanders’ last night and vowed to carry forward their ‘liberation struggle’. LTTE spokesman Irasiah Ilanthirayan told The Sunday Times last night the LTTE leadership discussed new security measures in the wake of Friday’s air strike that killed Mr. Thamilselvan.
