Orange Electric donates Laser system to Nuwara-Eliya Eye Hospital

Orange Electric, recently donated a Rs 6 million modern Laser Delivery System to the Nuwara-Eliya Base Hospital under its “Light for you; Sight for me" CSR programme.

The donation was financed through the Orange Lighting business where it sets aside a part of the sales proceeds to eradicate avoidable blindness in Sri Lanka. This donation was made to the Sri Lanka Eye Foundation at the request of its President Dr. Reggie Seimon.

Dr. Priyanga Iddawela, Consultant Eye Surgeon of the Nuwara-Eliya Base Hospital, receiving the machine on behalf of the hospital said, “This machine will be very helpful for us to treat Diabetic patients who are the high-risk category for Cataract.

At present patients requiring laser treatment are referred to Kandy or Colombo Hospitals and many patients in this area are below the poverty line thus, they avoid going to such places for treatment.”

During the past year, Orange Lighting has helped over 300 people to undergo Cataract surgery by meeting the cost of cataract lenses and facilitating surgeries at government hospitals.
