Annesley shines with Super Chimes

Annesley and Super Chimes, a popular pop band has become the most sought after band for all stage shows in Colombo and outstations. According to leader Annesley, the band is heavily booked for the coming festive season and the boys are really keen on doing a good job for the top fuctions and dances during the season.

'We perform at almost all the top shows and also provide musical backing for any artiste. Be it an oriental or western singer, we are capable of backing them' Annesley said. Annesley Malawana formed the group in late 2004 and now with his experience, he has guided the group to be one of the top most bands in Sri Lanka who could provide music for dances, stage shows, corporate functions and weddings. The Band which catered to the oriental audience at the start has now changed into a dance band while keeping the original identity.

'Super Chimes play anything from Sinhala classics, Sinhala pop songs and music for dancing mixed with of course the hits of 60's and 70's' he added. Annesley and Super Chimes were featured at several musical shows at the BMICH and many vanues around the country.

In November the Super Chimes will perform at a Gala 70's Show at Bishops Auditorium and a musical show featuring the artistes of the 60's and 70's in Ratnapura, the home town of Annesley on October 23.

The Super Chimes comprises Annesley on vocals, Dimantha Seneviratne on keyboards, Channa Athalage on lead guitar, Jagath Kulasinghe on drums and vocals, Prashan Fernando on guitar/keyboards vocals and Gihan Shalinda on bass and vocals. The Super Chimes also provided music for Annesley's CD titled 'Thotiya' which was released in November 2006. Annesley is planning a mega Concert next year to celebrate the long years in music of seventies.
