Reference to Athas as traitor: Yapa says sorry

Non Cabinet Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene told the BBC’s Sinhala service Sandeshaya that he was not aware of the government making any comments on Sunday Times Consultant Editor Iqbal Athas. "I am sorry if any government media had actually called him a traitor," Mr. Yapa told the BBC.

He told The Sunday Times last night that he would issue a statement after going through what went in the state media and what was posted on the Defence Ministry website.
