The Kandy-based Commercial Credit Ltd (CCL), on the occasion of its Silver Jubilee this year, launched yet another Corporate Social Responsibility Project – selecting this time the farming town of Galnewa, a CCL statement said.

Over 300 individuals with weak eyesight were screened and spectacles were provided for 275 people. The company said people flocked from 6am in the morning to obtain a number in order to qualify for the free service of eye testing and obtaining a pair of spectacles if so required.

Chairman of Commercial Credit Vagdevi Fernando said that it was the bounden duty of any human being to be of service and help another. Enhancing a person’s eyesight was a great merit.

“We have been with the people of Galnewa for the past 20 years looking after their needs and servicing them. In fact CCL has become a household name in the area.

Whether it is a sad or happy occasion a representative of the company is always at hand to help,” she said. Members of the Pradeshiya Sabha, the District Medical Officer and officers of the Rajarata Sanwardena Bank graced the occasion.
