IATA Agents Sri Lanka AGM

Riza Ahamat of Hemas Travels (Pvt) Ltd. was elected President of the IATA Agents Association of Sri Lanka for the year 2007/2008, whilst Rizmi Reyal of The Traveller Global (Pvt.) Ltd. was appointed Vice President at its 19th AGM held recently in Colombo.

The main objectives of the Association include – overseeing the interests of the members in all areas to develop the travel industry; liaising with the Department of Civil Aviation on matters of interest and policy; to represent matters collectively as a body at all levels; to lay down a code of conduct acceptable to members; and mediating on any problems and issues that have arisen between Travel Agencies and the Airlines.

The association has a membership of 75 comprising Passenger Sales Agents who are appointed Agents of IATA.

The following were elected as Council Members of the association:-
Suresh Mendis - Classic Travel (Pvt) Ltd, V. Mahathevan -Pyramid Air Services Ltd, Fouzi Marikkar - Shums & Sons Travels Ltd, Bernard Wijetunge - Gabo Travel, Nishantha Seneviratne-Aitken Spence Overseas Travel Services (Pvt) Ltd, S Paramanathan - Atlas Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, Trevor Rajaratnam - Mackinnons America Express Travels (Pvt) Ltd, Rimzi Nazeer - Global Holidays (Pvt) Ltd, Ahintha Amerasinghe - Worldlink Travels (Pvt) Ltd, Jude Condrad - Himpras Tours and Rodney J Koelmeyer - Superlink Travels (Pvt) Ltd.

Dino de Fonseka, Immediate Past President of the Association, will continue on the Committee.
