International Conference on Gastrointestinal Pathology

The ceremonial inauguration of the International Conference on Gastrointestinal Pathology, ICON_GI 2007, was held on September 20 at the Galadari Hotel, Colombo, with the WHO Country Representative in Sri Lanka, Dr. Agostino Borra, as chief guest and Prof. Neil Shepherd, Professor of Gastrointestinal Pathology, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, UK as guest of honour.

The three-day conference was jointly organized by the College of Pathologists of Sri Lanka and the British Division of the International Academy of Pathology (BDIAP).

The College of Pathologists is the largest academic body of pathologists in Sri Lanka and ICON_GI 2007 was a landmark event in its history being the first international conference hosted by the college.
