Malaka used a pistol to hit me: Accountant

Non-cabinet Labour Minister Mervyn Silva’s son, Malaka, is alleged to have hit a private firm accountant with a pistol, according to a complaint the victim has lodged with the police. The accountant, Chaminda Serasinghe, said in his complaint that Malaka hit him on the head with a pistol and fired into the air during a brawl at a Duplication Road restaurant on Thursday.

Mr. Serasinghe was taken to the National Hospital after the incident but he moved into a private hospital later. Yesterday he was readmitted to the National hospital, family members said. Police were yesterday due to record the statement of a German national who was with Mr. Serasinghe at the time of the incident but she was not available.

Meanwhile, Malaka also has got himself admitted to a private hospital after filing a counter complaint that he too had been assaulted. Police said no arrests had been made as investigations were continuing.
