Panora Corp supports Colombo University Computer work

Panora Corporation together with AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) India is to support research conducted by the School of Computing of the University of Colombo in Computer Architecture and High Performance Computing.

The University of Colombo’s School of Computing (UCSC) will benefit from this programme as AMD India together with Panora Corporation is donating a high capacity and state of the art server to the university, Panora said.

The server that is donated is equipped with the highest frequency Opteron processor that has a state of the art hardware ecosystem around it. It has a 2-socket system consisting of 4 processing cores.

The Direct Connect Architecture of the platform has a HyperTransport unit and an inbuilt memory controller that is embedded into the processor making it one of the highest performing, high bandwidth and low latency software infrastructure available in the industry.
