‘Adyapana’ exhibition to benefit students

With the stamp of approval being given by the University Grants Commission for the ‘Adyapana’ exhibition, the event will target school leavers this year, organizers said.

“Sri Lankan students who wish to pursue higher studies and are seeking suitable careers will gather awareness on how to plan their future in order to achieve their goals,” Prof. Gamini Samaranayake Chairman University Grants Commission (UGC) was quoted as saying in a press release by Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services (LECS).

The exhibition is to be held from October 5 to 7 at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre under the theme “Your Journey Begins Here.”

The UGC said that over a 100,000 students are eligible to enter our local universities annually. However, due to lack of facilities and inconsistencies in the local education system many students have been deprived of this opportunity. “Adyapana” envisages opening new vistas for them. “Thus, engaging in this effort is our social responsibility.”
