Training programme on caring for stroke patients

The National Stroke Association of Sri Lanka is organizing a special training programme at the Stroke Unit of Ward 16, National Hospital in Colombo. This training programme is for carers of disabled stroke patients and is designed to give awareness as to how such patients should be looked after in their own home environment.

A limited number of participants will be accommodated so early registration is required. Training sessions will include lectures and discussions and the resource persons will be doctors, nurses, speech therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and Social Service officers who are involved in the care of stroke patients in the Stroke Unit. Participants will also be given an opportunity to discuss their own problems with the resource people.

The programme will be useful for carers of stroke patients to improve the quality of care given to them. It will extend for about three hours from 9 a.m.

Those interested could register at the National Stroke Association by telephoning 2682630 between 2 and 4 p.m. on any weekday.
