Kani Sails On

Kani Lanka Resort' formerly known as Sinbad Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in the golden stretch of Katukurunda in Kalutara.
'Kani Lanka Resort' and Spa' is located on the picturesque tip of Kalu Ganga river mouth, between Indian Ocean and the lagoon.
Kani Lanka comprises of 105 rooms This includes 99 superior rooms (including Karadiya - sea water and Miridiya - fresh water rooms) and 6 suites (Konaya - river mouth corner suites) which have spectacular views of the sea, lagoon and garden.

The original architecture of the structure was by renowned architect Jeffrey Bawa.

There are two restaurants that offer variety of cuisine that focus on traditional Asian cooking with a modern fusion. The Palm Restaurant, overlooking the sea and the river offers an international buffet and at every meal there is a Sri Lankan corner offering local traditional specialities. The a'la carte Cafe Saffron has an outdoor terrace overlooking the sea and serves a mix of modern cuisine and traditional Sri Lankan specialities.

'Weekly bar-b-q dinners and outdoor dining by the sea or by the river is a memorable experience. We had our pontoon and it was destroyed by the tsunami. We will be having a new one soon' said Abdulla Shaugy, Maldivian General Manager of the hotel.
The two bars, the Miridiya Bar overlooking the Kalu Ganga and the Karadiya Bar located by the pool terrace overlooking the Indian Ocean are the top attractions.

The major attraction of the hotel is Amaan Spa. 'Amaan means peace and all our treatments are chosen carefully to bring you peace, harmony, serenity, and well being' he added.

Bird watching tours, Kalu Ganga excursion, trip to Ratnapura and Hikkaduwa and Singharaja are some of the tours arranged by the hotel for its guests.

Ninety eight per cent of shares of the 105-roomed Kani Lanka Resort and Spa is owned by Cyprea Lanka Pvt Ltd., a subsidiary of Ceyprea Group of Maldives and the balance by DFCC.
