By Nalaka Nonis

Bribery Commission yesterday arrested a manager of the Colombo Central Bus Stand (CCBS) while he was allegedly accepting a bribe from a boutique owner.

SSP Neville Guruge, Director Investigations of the Bribery Commission, told The Sunday Times the suspect was arrested while he was accepting a bribe of Rs. 40,000 from a person who owned four boutiques at the bus stand premises.

The suspect had been taking Rs. 40,000 a month from the boutique owner for the past six months by threatening to demolish his boutiques if he did not pay.

The suspect was produced before Colombo’s Chief Magistrate Kusala Sarojani and remanded till April 10.
