Nadine offers the latest perm

By Dhananjani Silva

The ‘digital perm’ is the latest technique introduced by beautician Nadine Goonaratne of Nadine’s Hair and Beauty Salon. This perming process requires about two and half hours depending on the condition of the client’s hair. Only perming lotion is used in this method which gives a natural look and causes less damage to the hair.

“The medium has different heating levels for different types of hair. In this digital perming process, only 6- 10 rods are used for winding and therefore it is easy to wind whereas in the normal perm about 50-60 rods are used.

“This perm has a soft blow dry effect and anything below the shoulder would be the required length of the hair ,” says Nadine.
Guaranteeing that there are no after effects, Nadine said that the digital perm will last for about six months, provided that it is being maintained properly with a leave-in conditioner. However, blow drying is not essential.

“You can oil your hair as well, and there is no problem in colouring too. When you want to style it, you can do so using mousse,” she said.

The digital perm is more pricy than the normal soft spiral perm because the machine itself is very expensive.

Nadine trained and worked at Ramani Fernando Salons for 16 years as a hairdresser cum beautician and salon manageress. As a teacher trainer she has visited Asian countries and has judged many hair and beauty competitions. The majority of her staff members have also undergone overseas training.

In addition to two salons at 34, 1st Floor, de Vos Avenue Colombo 4 and Trans Asia Hotel Nadine’s third branch is in the Maldives, at Meedhupparu Island Resort.
