IFS in big deal with Singer Pakistan

IFS Sri Lanka, a global enterprise applications company, has struck a deal with Singer Pakistan in a US$500,000 investment.

The company said it is one of the largest single investments by Singer Pakistan while for Sri Lanka it is the country’s biggest software exports.

“This is an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution, which is a merger of global ERP best practices and Singer company best practices into one system, enabling Singer Pakistan to respond quickly to market changes,” Jayantha De Silva, Vice President, IFS Asia Pacific said, explaining that this system facilitates resources to be used in a more agile way to accomplish superior business performance and competitive advantage.

With this project Singer South Asia would have over 1000 users, all connected on a web based ERP solution, again one of the largest projects in the region.

This system would be deployed to 153 shops across the country making it one of the only ERP implementation in Pakistan reaching the shops located in most urbanised cities as well as the remotest village. This has already been done in Singer Sri Lanka where currently over 150 shops use the IFS system all branch operations.

He explained that the system also avoids stock-outs and stock piling up and allows on-line redistribution of inventory on demand basis.

The Pakistan project would be spearheaded by Poorna Bandara, veteran in such mega projects at IFS. He is in charge of the Singer account in Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bangladesh and now Pakistan.
