Humble resident wins Rs. 1.3 million car from SLT

“This is amazing,” exclaimed P. A. Premasiri from Anuradhapura as he proudly walked on stage recently to claim his big win – a Chery QQ car worth Rs. 1.3 million at the prepaid awards night, hosted by Sri Lanka Telecom.

“It’s a gift from Sri Lanka Telecom that will make our lives a lot better. I’ve wanted a car for so long, and now I get one for only Rs. 8000.

Thank you SLT and everyone involved in making my dream a reality,” he said. For Premasiri, who mans a police checkpoint in the Valachchenai district of Batticaloa, keeping in touch with his family was not an easy task. From his desolate and lonely post, his only access to a mode of communication with the people he loved most was by regularly purchasing Sri Lanka Telecom’s prepaid calling cards – a system which can be used from any type of telephone to make economical calls within the country and internationally. As he spent over Rs 8,000 on these calling cards alone, little did Premasiri realise he would soon call his way into the ‘Match and Win’ grand draw to win the compact and stylish Chery QQ. Sri Lanka Telecom’s ‘Match and Win’ competition was held in celebration of the South Asian Games conducted last August in Colombo. The competition involved a special set of SLT prepaid cards commemorating the games, where customers could scratch for and match the four words to form the phrase “10th South Asian Games.”

These customers were then entitled to enter into the grand draw to win a total of 6 return air tickets, the Chery QQ, and a powerful Pulsar motor bike, which was won by A Siriskandarajah from Wellawatte. Prior to the awards ceremony, dealers and staff members of the company also attended a dealer conference to witness the signing of the Prepaid Cards sales plan for 2007.

Here, SLT awarded certificates to their best dealer representatives in the Metro, Western North, North Western, North & East categories. Dealers Awards for the most outstanding sales representatives were presented to 9 of SLT’s most outstanding sales representatives.

Awards were also presented to representatives from three SLT dealers to reward them for the Best Product Achievement.
