Union Assurance excels in South Asia and locally

At the recently concluded Annual Report Awards organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL), Union Assurance was adjudged the best in the non – banking financial sector in South Asia and went on to win two prestigious awards from the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA).

At a ceremony at Galle Face Hotel, the company was presented with the awards of ‘Best Presented Accounts’ by SAFA in the non-banking financial sector and the ‘Best Annual Report’ in the insurance sector. Accepting the award, Deputy CEO Dirk Pereira said the company was able to achieve this accolade because of its transparency and accountability tenets. “We are very conscious that it is our responsibility as a highly upheld corporate citizen to present the company’s financial position as transparently as possible, focusing on the three aspects of performance management, corporate governance and social responsibility,” a statement from the company said.

“Having won awards from the two premier accounting bodies, the ICASL in Sri Lanka and SAFA for the entire region, we firmly believe that we have set a benchmark for the industry. We won these awards because we presented the picture of a professionally managed company that has equal focus on all stakeholders,” said Pereira.

“We aim to improve on this performance in the future by tapping into new market segments. We have made many investments in this regard enabling us to achieve a robust top line growth, investing in people, infrastructure and the brand,” Mr. Pereira said in the statement.
