Odds and Ends

Very unpalatable
A top man in uniform visited the Dalada Maligawa recently to invoke blessings in the New Year. Due to security reasons, the man carries with him his meals. So when lunch was served, the chief layman of the temple too sat with him for lunch.

Mistakenly the uniformed man’s lunch was partaken of by the other man who to his horror soon found that it contained beef. The man was seen rushing out of the room to throw out what he had put in his mouth. Being a vegetarian, he found the whole experience very unpalatable.

Kandy fixation
Soon after the bomb blast in Nittambuwa on Friday night, Government spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella was on television and on one channel he said the bus caught in the blast was travelling from Kandy to Colombo while half an hour later on another channel he said it was travelling from Nittambuwa to Kandy.

All this while journalists at the scene knew and as the military spokesman said the bus was travelling from Nittambuwa to Giriulla. In the minister’s case, all roads seemed to be leading to Kandy, for obvious reasons.
