Cushioning flood damages

We have heard big business firms talking about corporate social responsibility but more often their acts of charity end up as propaganda with newspaper articles and photographs bragging about what they have done for society. However, there appear to be a few exceptions.

I was a victim of the recent floods in the Wattala area. My sofa set and the computer table, that I had bought seven years ago from Damro, a furniture company, were damaged. When life returned to normal after the floods, I called Damro and asked whether it could repair my damaged furniture. The company sent a lorry to take my furniture to its workshop. When I called the company to find out about the cost, a company official said they were doing it free of charge as a social service to flood victims. My sofa set returned home looking new and I got a brand new computer table because the one I sent for repairs was irreparable.

I hope other private sector firms will emulate the good work of Damro.
