Why are we so loud?

Right now as I sit in my house, buses thunder by bullying others on the road. I live near a junction, so their air horns blast through the entire area. Now that it is the holiday season, loudspeakers blare incomprehensible messages. I am sick because of all this noise.

Sri Lankans must be the biggest noise polluters in the world! Why cannot the government regulate and ideally prohibit and ban noise and fine offenders. Firstly stop all religious institutions from using the loudspeaker. It doesn't matter if it is for five minutes or five hours, it is annoying to have to hear religion crammed down your throat, especially if you don't belong to that religious community.

Secondly, ban all lottery sellers from using the loudspeakers to advertise their wares. Thirdly, prohibit buses and lorries from using air horns. Fourthly, teach politicians and public speakers to speak rather than shout and scream. Fifthly, take noise pollution complaints seriously.

Publish a telephone number where complaints can be made to. Right now, I feel that instead of a paradise I am living in a hell!
