Aspiring stars on ‘Swarna Rathriya’

ITN's ‘Swarna Rathriya’, which is being telecast every Saturday at 10.10 pm, is a programme featuring amateur singers and bringing them to the public eye.

It is becoming a popular programme among the television audiences.The competition is being held under a panel of adjudicators comprising veteran musicians in the country. The ultimate winner of the contest will receive the ITN Swarna Award for the best singer.

There is another contest running parallel to spot the most popular male and female singer according to the preferences of the masses who are able to vote through SMS or post cards.

The programme which is in its semi final stage now, focuses on identifying the national identity in our own music, the organizers said.

Popular television host Hasantha Sri Lal Hettiarachchi is the director of the programme which is produced by Chandika Wijesena.
