U 16 shuttlers off to China

Sri Lanka’s Under-16 team of shuttlers comprising an eight member team of boys and girls will take part in the Asian Under Mixed team championships. It will be staged in Shenzhen, China from Dec. 20 to 22.

Asia’s top junior shuttlers will take part and will be played according to the rules governed by the Badminton World Federation. All events will be played on the Sudirman Cup format 21pts. scoring system.

The final 8-member team (4 boys and 4 girls) were picked after couple of trials by the national selection panel.

B.S.M. de Silva (Chairman), Mrs. Nicanthi Jayasinghe, Jayanthan Kulasingham and Ranil Pathirane.

The team - Boys: Dilshan Kariyawasam, (Ananda College Colombo 10), Nuwan Hettiarachchi (Ananda Colombo 10), H.S. Perera (Dharmaraja Kandy), Lasitha Maduwage (Dharmasoka Ambalangoda).

Girls: Lekha Shehani (O.L.V. Moratuwa), Achini Rathnasiri (Lindsay Girls College), Chameka Madurawa (Mahamaya Kandy), Akila Jayamanna (Musaeus College).
