Raigam founder declared Sri Lanka Entrepreneur of the Year

Dr. Ravi Liyanage, Chairman and Managing Director of Raigam Marketing Services (Pvt.) Ltd. was this week declared the Sri Lanka Entrepreneur of the Year awards at the awards ceremony organized by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FCCISL).

“It is important for local entrepreneurs to think beyond the borders of Sri Lanka and plan to tap into the large South Asian market. But before that most enterprises need to realize that the wealth of the nation is hidden in the regions.

Their businesses need to reach out beyond the borders of the Western province into the rural masses, if they are growth oriented,” he said at the ceremony. The 11th Sri Lanka Entrepreneur of the year awards is the first and most comprehensive award scheme, that evaluates local businesses based on a multi-faceted requirements list, which includes their financial strength, management style, employment generation capacity, technology used, competitiveness and future viability.

This year Laugfs Holdings Chairman W.K.H. Wegapitiya won the gold award in the Extra large category, while Ancoombra Group Managing Partner I. Meezan Mohideen won the gold award in the large category. Rathna Producers & Exporters (Pvt) Ltd. Managing Director P. Runage won the medium category gold. A special “woman entrepreneur category” was also introduced as an effort to encourage women lead enterprise development with Ramani Fernando Salons Pvt. Ltd. Managing Director Ramani Fernando winning the woman entrepreneur of the year award.
