* Damn the throwers
The coaches in the under 15 cricket squad are in a predicament. The reason, they have noticed some youngsters who are really throwing the ball instead of bowling. But, they dare not correct them because of their connections and also they are not called by the umpires at matches.


*A new ticketing office

The Asian Games contingent now had risen up about 300. Now two airlines have opened up temporary desks at the NOC office to deal with the situation.

* A superb saying
Though there is a huge contingent who are Qatar bound, they say there seems to be no one who can bring a medal back home. Knowing this the minister said “If I went on the tour even I would have been a part of this disaster, thank god I am not going”.

Berated
The skipper of Badhu SC had berated the match referee in public while playing against the Chilaw lads in their premier game. The Badhu skipper is a veteran who had earlier played for a leading club in Colombo.

A real mix up
He hails from the town next to Moratuwa. He had just come out of a match ban after he was found guilty of arguing with the umpires. However in his very first match he once again argued with the umpire over the tip-catch that brought an end to his inningsS. However the TV replay afterwards proved that the player was correct.

The match report
This former Test cricket allrounder who was the manager of the Sri Lanka team who took part in the Hong Kong sixes blamed the ground conditions for their loss at the tournament. Sri Lanka even lost their match to hosts Hong Kong. They say he had managed the side during the past three years and Sri Lanka lost very badly in all those tournaments. Now the SLC is concerned about his guiding abilities.

The Anniversary cycle race
The cycle race was held from Temple Trees to Weeravila to celebrate the President’s one year in office. However when the race was flagged off in front of Temple Trees the President was not even aware of it. To make matters worse the presentation at the end of the race had to be cancelled as none of the VIP invitees had graced the occasion. They say that the winner was to receive a sum of Rs.75,000/- as prize money.
