‘Magic Box’ is open now
They say rock music will never die. Instead, it changes the style. In the era of new wave and hip hop rock seems to be forgotten. 'Magic Box Mixup' is the latest heavy band to rock the city. Led by Shaun Perera, 'Magic Box Mixup' stands tall in the young music scene in Sri Lanka, promising a bright future for alternate rock in Sri Lanka.

Shaun is the eldest son of Neville Perera, an ex- member of Gypsies. Neville was with the band during their early days as a frontline singer. 'Magic Box Mixup' comprises of five talented musicians, who are the school boys. Shaun together with Virantha Mendis (guitar), Kushal Abeywickrema (lead guitar), Naveen Karunaratne (drums) and Dexter Juriansz (bass) creates exciting sounds of rock that will sure to hit the skies in Sri Lanka.

Their debut album 'Another day' will be launched in July.'Another day' is an album of originals created by us. We are putting the final touches to this. We are all students and the great fans of rock music. That's why we thought of getting together as a band and to do something. This project is not a commercial this purely for satisfaction' Shaun said.

Most of the lyrics and music arrangements have done by Shaun. Songs 'Beautiful Girl' and Flyaway butterfly' are two of the songs he sings on this album. 'Magic Box Mixup' is under the professional guidance of veteran Dilup Gabadabudalige and he is the force behind the line up.

'I want to thank my father, mother, my brother and uncles for helping and encouraging me. Also Mr. Gabadamudalige for all the help. His guidance and help really pushes up to do things professional way' he said. Shaun is a College student in Malaysia and he will be getting back to studies next week. ‘I will be back for the launch’ he added.
