‘Hotel Nilketha Villa’ : Luxury with nature in Anuradhapura
By Sanath Weerasuriya
Anuradhapura is famous for its past glory. Many Sri Lankan and foreign tourists visit this ancient city mainly to see the proud legacy of the civilization stretching back to over 2500 years.

But Anuradhapura is not only an ancient city. It is the hub of the North Central Sri Lanka and the main meeting point of North and South bound traffic.
Situated away from the hustle and bustle of city life, Hotel Niketha Villa is an ideal location for visitors to the sacred city. Equipped with twelve well furnished air conditioned rooms including three family rooms. The hotel offers wide range of facilities to its guests. In addition to hot and cold water facilities, cable TV. IDD, internet and room service is available at the Villa.

Hotel Niketha Villa is a popular holiday home for young and old. It is situated just one km from the sacred city on old Mihintale/Trinco road. Spectacular views surrounded by breathtaking scenery through the rustling sounds of paddy fields, which reflects the hotel's name.

Started in April 2003 as a normal guest house for travellers, the Villa has grown in to a modern hotel with all amenities. 'We offer eastern and western cuisines for our guests and smiling stewards are our asset. Service is the key word at this hotel and our main motto is guest satisfaction' said Dinesh Sudath Wickremarachchi, the Manager of the Hotel Nilketha Villa.

The specialty cuisine at the hotel is Sri Lankan and rice straight from the surrounding paddy fields. Apart from that, Indian, Western, Chinese and Thai dishes are available on request. The bar is located at the second floor.
'The travellers can use Hotel Nilketha Villa as the base for excursions in and around the city. We also arrange cultural tours in the old city and adventure trips to Wilpattu, Trincomalee, Thantirimale, Ritigala and other interesting attractions' he added.

Wilpattu is just one hour drive from the place and Kaudulla and Minneriya is just within two hours drive. According to Dr.J. G. Jayathilake, the proprietor, a medical professional, the Villa will be getting Anuradhapura's very first 'tree top chalets' early next year.

'I want to add a couple of 'tree top chalets' for the nature and bird lovers. It will be located in the midst of the paddy fields of the hotel as a separate unit' said Dr. Jayathilake.

He said the investment would be around five million and the new swimming pool will come in as an additional package. Hotel Nilketha Villa is a popular place for special functions.

'We can handle weddings, get-togethers, company outings and special parties. 250 to 300 pax can be accommodated at the ground floor' Dinesh said.
