‘Sedona’ : Wasanthi in a dual role
Experienced cinema star Wasanthi Chathurani plays duel roles main actress and the producer in the minplay "Sedona", a teledrama that revolves around a woman who battles against her own fate telecast every Tuesday at 9.30 pm on Swarnavahini channel.

Along with Wasanthi the others in the main lead are Jayalath Manoratne, Kau-shalya Fernando, Anula Bulathsinghala,Rodney Warnaakula, Sarath Koth-alawal, Jayani Senanayake, Nayana Hettiarachchi, Ku-mar Thiramadu, Som-asiri Kolombage, Nuwangi Liya-nage, Nilmini Guwanaka, Wasanthi Ranwala, Nilan-thi Heendeniya, Wasantha Wittachchi and K.A. Milton Perera.
Sedona a young orphan struggles to provide for both herself and her brother. She is a domestic helper to most of the villagers for a payment of a meal of rice.

Both men and women in the village try to exploit her poverty and youth. Yet there are two men who treat her differently. Babanis an innocent villager who loves her honesty. Sedona looks on him as a brother. The other is Diyonis who does not try to take advantage of her due to poverty. Yet Sedona helps out with chores at his house.

Welegedara Akka Diyonis' wife lethargic by nature. She seeks Sedona's help for domestic chores which includes attending on Diyonis too. With time Sedona becomes amazed by Diyonis' strange behaviour falls in love with him. Diyonis has no special interest in women. But with time he is too attracted to Sedona. Having lived as a woman who was used by both society and her only sibling, Sedona succumbs to this strange affection. The whole village rises against their love and most of them held Sedona responsible for this.

As Welegedara Akka gets to know about their affair she leaves for her parent's house with her child. The attitude Welegedara Akka portrays towards her husbands mistress, amazes, Diyonis. All she asks from him is not to deceive two women. As the affair develops, Sedona is looked at with contempt by the whole village. One night the villagers follow them to the rock where they meet every night. They are caught red-handed. Sedona is ostracised. Not being able to bear this Diyonis commits suicide. Thereafter Sedona's life becomes even more difficult as her only brother asks her to leave the house. All she had left was Babanis' never changing love and care. This is also looked at condescendly by the village.

Yet her love for- Diyonis remains true all her life.
Sedona is directed by Prema Kumara Jayawardena.
Manjula Malwatte was the editor, Thishula Deepa Thambavita camera, scripted by Sumithra Rahubadde and story was written by Eva Ranaveera. Dr. Premasiri Khemadasa wrote the musical score.
