'One Shot' hit in India
Ranjan Ramanayake's commercially successful films such as 'One Shot' and 'Parliament Jokes' has attracted Indian filmmakers and producers.
Having seen a screening of 'One Shot' at Savoy Cinema Colombo, some Indian film producers have decided to do a Sri Lanka-India co-production suitable for the film markets in the two countries.

The film is titled "Invisible Man".
This massive budgeted film with Indian Rs. 600,000,0 is to start filming in a few days. Having had the Muhurath in Sri Lanka, the film will have a separate Muhurath in India next week.

South Indian 'Dool' famed actress Meera Jasmine will play opposite Ranjan and the other Indian leading actor Abbas will play the villain. The story revolves around a bodyguard of a politician's daughter. He was hired by the girl's boyfriend who turns a villain later.

"Nearly sixty to seventy copies are to be released with 35 in Sri Lanka and another 25 to 35 in India's Chennai and Madras," Ranjan said. The actor cum co-director, Ranjan says this is the first time that an Indian film spending so much money has awarded the role of 'hero' to a Sri Lankan.

"Veteran actor Gamini Fonseka once played a role in the film 'Neelakadalai Waroththalai' and Vijaya Kumaratunga has played in 'Nenguram' but these did not become hits due to certain problems," the actor said.

"Most of the time we were given the role of the villain or employed as an extra but not given a heroes role in Indian production. This may be due to the reason that we did not fulfill the requirements that the Indian audience expected such as the tough heroes with mustache and etc," Ranjan said.

"Unlike Bollywood the South Indian audience does not want 'chocolate' heroes" said Ranjan adding that he too was growing a mustache to suit his role now. Co-directed by R.K. A. Palani Assan and Ranjan himself, Neelapriyan Thowfeek and P. Arooran will produce 'Invisible Man'.

"I must thank my audience and the media for helping me to make my brand. Before the film 'Leader' was started I was paid Rs. two million for taking up acting," Ranjan explained. "The recognition I have gained is solely due to my fans and the media who back me," Ranjan said with gratitude.

All main technical crew including the art director, editor, camera and makeup are coming from India and the copies released in India will be dubbed to Indian languages. The shooting on locations are scheduled to start first in Sri Lanka and then in India.
