Acoustica: an unplugged extravaganza
The name pretty much says it all. But is there more to it? The organisers of the event gave us a quick insight into things. In crux? Some of the best bands, an amazing atmosphere and an amazing genre of music, all brought together for a night that will be worth being a part of.

Organised by the Interact Club of D. S. Senanayake College, the club has never in its existence organised such a grand scale project on its own. Completing more than eighty-five projects during the course of the year, this is the first time in the history of its 20 years of existence that the club has managed to achieve such a feat.

Considering that this is their first time organising a project of this nature, people might wonder what really can be expected from them. Will it be a worthwhile concert to attend? Well, that all depends on the performance line up of the evening, and we asked the organisers to give us some details with regards to this.

HollowPoint Halo will be a multi-sensory experience that symbolises the convergence of contemporary music, creative writing and comic artistry. It is the vision of a collective of eight individual artistes (artists, composers, creative writers, musicians, web designers), brought together through the bonds of a deep-seated and strong friendship. The aim of this dynamically dysfunctional family is to produce original material that will push creative boundaries in mainstream music and storytelling, while exploring themes that are intrinsically related to our sense of self and central to the evolution of our society.

Then there is Deadlyn 21. Considered to be one of the most up and coming and popular outfits around in the music scene in Colombo, the band is tipped to perform six popular covers that will get the crowd into the mood. Adding to this atmosphere will be Anil Balasuriya who will also perform six songs.

nterested yet? No doubt about it. But there is more. Déjà Vu, Cyphers Burnout (formerly known as AKASH), Fallen Grace and Executioners Asylum (two bands that are new to the music scene) are all tipped to perform at the concert making this one event you wouldn’t want to miss.

Acoustica: an unplugged extravaganza will be on today at My Kind Of Place, Taj Samudra from 7.00 p.m. onwards. Tickets priced Rs. 300 will be available at the gate. The main sponsor for the event is Standard Charted Bank, while Gemi Tea comes in as their co-sponsors for the event. Electronic media sponsor is ETV and the official web media sponsor is HollowPoint Halo. The concert will be in aid of the post-tsunami victims to conduct a medical camp in Galle.
