South West Monsoon Festival of Golf
This year's South West Monsoon Golf Competition will experience typical monsoon weather and the reports have it that play may be affected if the pace of the present rainfall continues.

Calcutta Medal
The first event is for the Calcutta Medal donated to the Royal Colombo by the Royal Calcutta in the year 1888 and played on the Galle Face esplanade the first home of the Royal Colombo. A highly competitive event the winner last year was the dashing fun lover Kumar Mirchandani.

Victoria Cup
The Victoria Golf Club folded in 1947 and the Royal Colombo Golf Club warmly welcomed their entire membership. In appreciation and a gesture of goodwill the Victoria Golf Club donated the handsome Victoria Cup for competition at the Royal Colombo. The buoyant and popular Banker Sarath Piyaratne captured the Trophy last year.

Squadron Cup
Rusi Captain collected this Trophy last year as he has done several times before. A comparatively new competition it draws much attention and huge participation.

Gold Medal
This classy event traces its history to the Colombo Golf Club the original name of the Royal Colombo. This gorgeous Medal was introduced in 1890 and from 1950-1978 it was the firm preserve of the maestro legend Pin Fernando on 21 occasions. Through recent years Rusi Captain has collected the award to add to his Soukh.

Ceylinco Condo Event
I have very little to report the stray news that the powerful stroke player Sarath Wickremaratne won the "A" Title with a one under par nett 70. He tied with that elegant young player Shehan Ramanayake and got ahead with a better rear nine.

Finally
The rest of the news is clouded because I reliably understand that the Captain has decreed and dished out instructions that news and results should not be given to me in the future, interfering with an arrangement I have enjoyed for 32 years from 1973 when Pin Fernando invited me to contribute Golf stories from the Royal Colombo and Dr. Lance Fernando wanted the Golf Union to be included in my dispatches. Nevertheless, this does not preclude me from continuing with my column as I have much more to write about.
