‘Wara Peraliya’ : Reflects society
The setting for the miniplay ‘Wara Pereliya’ depicts the society that is divided by race, religion and caste. This was how the people lived in the feudal era. To effect a change in this structure conflicts are brought in its wake.

‘Wara Pereliya’ shows the low caste had to suffer. It was their inheritance by birth whereas the high caste were blessed by God. For a low caste to seek prominence in such a society was considered a crime.

This teledrama revolves around a low caste (Rodi), who has received a high post with his education and the reality behind such a position. ‘Wara Peraliya’ tries to relate the issues in our society based on customs and traditions that are typical of the different castes in the caste system of Sri Lanka. It also deals with abortions which are a common issue in today’s society. Situations that arose in the past due to these conflicts are discussed widely.
