New role for Buddhika
The Muhurath ceremony for the new film ‘Dedunu Wessa’, the maiden effort of actor turned director Buddhika Jayaratne was held recently.

This for Buddhika is a dream come true and leading and popular film stars Malani Fonseka and Jeevan Kumaratunga will play the lead roles in his maiden film. Scripted by Buddhika himself, Tharupathy Munasinghe will handle the music while Athula Adhikari and Samitha Mudunkotuwa provide vocals.

This will also be an opportunity for several aspiring actors and actresses such as Lanka’s top model Rozanne Diaz, vocalist Madhu Madawa Aravinda, Nirosha Perera, Tharindu Wijesinghe and journalist Tennyson Edirisingh to make their debut.

Dedunu Wessa will be co-produced by Colombo Pictures and well-known tutor Piyal Seneviratne.

Buddhika starts work on Dedunbu Wessa on the first week of January and he is confident that he will be able to make a successful movie since he will be privileged to work with veteran actors and actresses as well as amateurs.

K. D. Dayananda will handle the camera while Jayampathi Bopitiya will assist Buddhika. The story of Dedunu Wessa is about a young lawyer, Rohith (Buddhika) who joins a higher education institute as a lecturer. His life takes unexpected turns after he meets Biyanka, a student hailing from a well-to-do family.

He is accused of rape of two girls but after several reels the real story unfolds. The film discusses the human aspect in the lives of police officers and also different aspects of maternal love.
