R&R abroad for VVIPs
President Chandrika Kumaratunga, Ministers Anura Bandaranaike and Mangala Samaraweera are out of the country during this festive season on private visists while Lakshman Kadirgamar is abroad on an official visit.

The President left on Wednesday for Britain while Mr. Bandaranaike is away in the United States and is not expected back till the second week of January. Minsiter Samaraweera who was in Pakistan attending a SAFTA meeting has gone to Casablanca, Morocco on a private visit. The controversial former Deputy Minister Mervyn Silva is also in Africa on a wildlife Safar.
