Revolutionary Revelation
Singer Shean Dharmaratne and his band ‘Revelation’ come alive at Rhythm & Blues on every Saturday. The band is gaining qiute a popularity during their short stay after returning to Colombo from Gulf. They had built quite a fan base.

Revelation on a single set catered to a mix audience with hits ranging from classic rock, rock n’ roll, 70’s, Reggae and some popular dance hits . It was good to hear some good tunes from Doors, CCR and Bob Marley.

Revelation’s current line up is Diren Sabaratnam on Drums and rapping. Shaman (The Rasta) on Bass, vocals and Guitar, Kanchana on Keyboards, pass and piano. The glitz on the band is Tehani Asmone (Sherry) on Vocals, Zion on Lead guitar and Shean on vocals.

The new bassist Shaman (Rasta man) adds a lot of color with his reggae style and electrifying bass solos. And a rare version of “Simply the Best” by Sherry was a treat. The highlight of the night was perfomance on the “Tammatama” by Shean that mixed with the Santana classic “Black Magic Woman” got even the crowd on the far end jamming up near the bar to get a view. It ended with the Sri Lankan “Gajaba Wannama” with excellent guitar work by Zion de Silva and keyboard solos by Kanchana. Also every time I see Diren on drums he is better and continuing to shine his fathers Glory.

Already signed up for the 31st December at the upcoming “Water’s Edge” (Golf and Country Club) Revelation is booked for a number of dances and balls.
