Tale of two mothers one, child
‘Adaraneeya Amma’ is a teledrama woven around two mothers, who are quarrelling over a child. One is the natural mother and the other the adapted one. It is telecast every Thursday at 7.30 pm on ITN Channel. Nirmal and Maheshika Serasinghe have a toddler daughter called Thurya. Maheshika is pregnant. Nirmal works in a government department. Nirmal’s aged blind parents live with them. They are a middle class family. Their quiet lifestyle was changed when one day the Minister, Mr. Wanshanatha saw their child, Thurya, while he was present at a function.

Thurya is really the child of Wanshanatha and Wathsala. Since the child was conceived before marriage Wanshanatha’s decide to give away the child fearing having a child could damage the father’s political career. Meanwhile Nirmal and Maheshika a childless couple decide to take the child without going through the formalities.

Now Wanshanatha recognizes Thurya as his child. They being childless are anxious to have a child. Using their wealth and influence the Wanshanatha’s try to get the child back but are unsuccessful. This gives rise to a conflict between the two mothers.

When matter was taken to court it was decided in favour of Wanshanatha’s. But the real parents realize they cannot win the child’s affection and love. Hence they decide to hand over the child to Nirmal and Maheshika.

Palitha Silva, Chandani Seneviratne, Nilmini Tennekoon, Ashen Manjula, Wasasntha Moragoda, Neetha Samaranayake, G. R. Perera, Samanthi Lanerolle, Gihan Fernando, Milinda Perera star in this teledrama. Child actress Thurya Peiris making her debut appearance on the small screen. Produced by Thushari Peiries and ‘Adaraneeya Amma’ is directed by Roshan Kuruppu.
