Don in quandary after lending vehicle to JVPer
A senior lecturer of the Colombo University's Economics Department has complained to Police that his life was under threat after his vehicle was used to transport two JHU MPs to parliament.

A relative of the lecturer, a JVP Local Council member of Panadura had borrowed his vehicle the previous night and used it the next day to bring the monks to parliament, the lecturer claims. According to family members the vehicle has not been returned yet.

Earlier, at an Alliance briefing Nandana Gunathilaka had pledged that the JVP will bring in two additional votes to Parliament. Mangala Samaraweera had pledged another vote from the UNF in D.E.W Gunasekera's favour.

Meanwhile UPFA sources told the Sunday Times some elements in both the JVP and the SLFP were questioning why Premier Mahinda Rajapakse failed to get JHU support even though he was a popular figure with the local monks and a personal friend of Ven. Omalpe Sobitha Thera.
