CIMA-Janashakthi Pinnacle Awards for business leadership
The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), together with Janashakthi Insurance Company (Pvt) Ltd., will hold the CIMA - Janashakthi Pinnacle Awards on April 20 at the Colombo Plaza. The awards presentation will honour business leadership and recognise business success stories of corporate Sri Lanka.

Niluke Ratnayake, crowned the young CIMA star of the year in 2002, speaking to The Sunday Times FT said that winning the award was a personal satisfaction and an encouragement to strive to greater heights. "I was pleasantly shocked when I won and it has been a great morale booster," she said.

Ratnayake, who is currently employed at Brandix Lanka, said that CIMA with its wide curriculum has a wider exposure to different aspects of business and provides many opportunities in terms of employment.

Janashakthi, which has been on the forefront of major sports sponsorships in the past, has now come forward to sponsor a national business event of this nature taking into consideration the long-term development of the business sector of this country.

Prakash Shaffter, Director/ General Manager Janashakthi Insurance, said the company wanted to sponsor the awards in order to reward professionals and encourage other aspiring individuals. He said currently three CIMA qualified individuals are employed at Janashakthi. "CIMA is a leading professional organisation with a high standing in Sri Lanka and the world over," he added.

The CIMA Janashakthi Pinnacle Awards has 15 titles recognising 15 of the most deserving recipients. The first award is 'Young CIMA star of the year' for the most outstanding CIMA member or passed finalist under 30 years of age, with gold, silver and bronze placements. 'CIMA Business Manager of the year' will be awarded for the most outstanding CIMA member below 40 years of age with gold, silver and bronze placements.

''Finance Team of the year award' will be open to all finance teams of any business entity that is a registered business in Sri Lanka and will also be offered in three subcategories, namely large, medium and small organisations. Each sub-category will have a gold award to the winner and a merit award to the runner-up.

'Business Leader of the Year Award' is a national level award for one person who has manifested several criteria that CIMA and Janashakthi consider vital in their own organisational undertakings. This award is offered in three sub-categories, namely large, medium and small organisations.
