‘For Rosanna’ is her song
By Ishani Ranasinghe
She walked in with a very noticeable pink bag and that radiant smile that just lights up her face. With poise beyond her age, she posed patiently for the waiting photographers.

Facing the media on Friday at the Trans Asia Hotel, nineteen-year-old Miss World Rosanna Davison handled herself very well, looking only slightly nervous.

"I think there are a lot of similarities between the people here and back home in Ireland. Sri Lanka has been nothing but smiles," she said, adding that she was touched by how wonderful, warm and friendly the people here have been.

As the daughter of the much loved Lady in Red singer Chris De Burgh what is her favourite song from her father’s collection she was asked. Prompt came the reply 'For Rosanna'. "It was written somewhere around the time when I was born and it is a very special song to me," she says with a smile.

So how come her father's name and hers are different? She answers this with a very amused look saying, "My father took on his mother's maiden name for his stage name.”

As a student she says her studies play a vital role in her life. "I feel that it is important to have qualifications to fall back on." She is serious about her studies and would somehow finish her degree, she stresses. " I don't see a point in starting a three year degree if you are not going to see it through."

Hardworking, dedicated and motivated, she had some interesting thoughts to share with students. "I think that if you really want to study and get your degree you have to go for it," she said, adding that you have to work hard but at the end of the day it would be worth it. "Besides I have heard the time you are a student will always be the best time of your life," she said, eyes twinkling.
