Puttalam JVPers want murder suspects arrested
Some two hundred JVPers staged a protest campaign in Puttalam on February 1, demanding the arrest of suspects allegedly involved in 23 murders at Anamaduwa and Puttalam.

Wayamba Provincial Council JVP member Priyankara Dissanayake, in a statement alleged that a prominent UNP Parliamentarian of the area was responsible for the 23 murders which had taken place after the UNP assumed office.

He charged that PA supporters who were killed during a fracas in Puttalam on January 20 the day the alliance was established are alleged to have complained to the Puttalam police earlier in the day that their lives were in danger and that should anything happen to them the parliamentarian should be held responsible.
