‘Diya Yata Gindara’ breaks new ground
Veteran actor Amerasiri Kalansuriya, who returned to the silver screen after an absence of seventeen years plays a lead role in Udayakantha Warnasuriya’s latest film ‘Diya Yata Gindara’.

Talented Achala Alles who had performed memorable roles on the mini screen will play the lead with Sanath Gunathilaka for the first time on the wide screen.

Others in the cast are veteran actor Tony Ranasinghe, Srinath Maddumage, Nirosha Herath and Srimal Sathyajith Wedisinghe. Warnasuriya of “Gini Avi Saha Gini Keli” and “Bahu Barya” fame has tackled a story in which a group of people run the risk of making money by illegal means and the evil results thereof.

In the technical field Stanley de Alwis was the editor, K. D. Dayananda was director of photography and Sangeeth Wickremasinghe did the music score. Both the story and screen play are by the director himself.

The right directorial effort of Udayakantha marks the entrance of Cinema Entertainment Limited (CEL), a banner organization of three film importers, Ceylon Theatres, Ceylon Entertainment and Cinemas Limited to the Sri Lankan film scene as a producer. The film would be released in CEL circuit cinemas from early April.
