Luxman’s ‘Sudu Salu’ now on screen
‘Sudu Salu’ the maiden cinema direction by Gamini Luxman Fernando depicts love and desertion coupled with black magic. The film is now being screened at National Film Corporation and MPI circuit theatres including Ashoka cinema in Colombo.

Luxman Fernando who produced the stage play ‘Mora’ and directed telefilm ‘Dulari’ in his first cinematic directorial venture tackles the story of a young man who starts an affair with his friends sister while his girl friend is abroad with a view to better her future as well as her family.

Amara (Nayana Kumari) goes to the oil rich Middle East dreaming of a blissful marriage and happy weeded life with her fiancée Bandu (Mahendra Perera). While the girl friend is abroad Bandu falls in love with his friend’s sister ‘Thamara’ (Dilhani Ekanayake).

Having heard about Bandu’s affair Amara writes a letter to her parents threatening that she would commit suicide if what she hears was true. Disturbed by this Amara’s father a black magician uses his art to get down her daughter to the country alive. Meanwhile Bandu tries hard to cover up his earlier affair with Thamara who is suspicious about his honesty.

In the main cast includes Mahendra Perera, Dilhani Ekanayake, Nayana Kumari, Deepani Silva, Nilanthi Wijesinghe, Mayuri Samarasinghe and ‘ introduces Shalika Edirisinghe to the screen.
