A talk on prevention of heart disease
With an increase in heart attacks and strokes, particularly in the young, The Charted Management Institute, Sri Lanka branch has organized a presentation on the subject.
The presentation to be held on Wednesday will look into the factors that make people vulnerable to heart attacks .

"Avoiding or controlling risk factors such as tobacco smoking, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, diabetes and obesity reduces heart attack risks. It is even more important to adopt a correct lifestyle from a younger age to avoid getting these risk factors later in life" it is stated.

The talk will be presented by Consultant Physician attached to the University Medical Unit of the National Hospital, Colombo, Dr. Shyam Fernando, at the Galle Face Hotel.

The Institute states that sensible eating simply means eating a variety of right foods in right amounts. In practical terms you need to make sure that the starchy food that you eat is high in fiber.
